Has the pandemic left you feeling isolated and disconnected from Alma Mater?
We feel that way too. Sometimes, just a little conversation and camaraderie can help.
Save the Date and please join us for our:
"Virtual Wine & Cheese Connection"
Thursday, December 10
5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
We Columbians are resilient, curious and imaginative by nature. At this gathering, let's catch up, engage with each other and share some of our best ideas on how everyone is navigating the pandemic.
- During this challenging time, what are some of the ways you are coping?
- Here is a great article from the New York Times on the "new" Thanksgiving modes:
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/07/at-home/coronavirus-friendsgiving.htm
- There are multiple good books out there and likely more time. for some, to devour them. Has anyone consider cranking out their own novel? Have that idea just ready to commit to paper, what is it? Or a personal chronicle of how life has changed during the pandemic? (Why should only the journalists have all the fun? wink)
- With capacity limits set on indoor events and restaurants and a push to enjoy the great outdoors, there are multiple great walking trails in Rhode Island: Blackstone River State Park in Lincoln and the Norman Bird Sanctuary in Middletown comes to mind. Heck, walking around Benefit Street on a crisp fall day is cool too. All great sites for Rhode Island's hearty pre-winter season. What other places have you visited, if any?
And finally... A CALL TO ACTION: Our Rhode Island club is looking for alumni to share their expertise and ideas for future virtual events.
Are there any professors or subject matter experts among us who can lead a panel on a topic of interest? We are open to the run of the gamut... science, art, literature, finance
The virtual event will be moderated by the Columbia Club of Rhode Island Leadership.
Please RSVP and we will reply to your personal email with the Zoom log-in info before this event.
Don't forget to have your favorite beverage and snack nearby!
Looking forward to seeing you virtually!
